“Helping people has always been a core part of who I am as a person. Growing up I didn’t always know how I was going to do that, but I did know it would be a part of my career and my life. I have found, through jobs I have had, that even if I am not giving direct service to someone, I can still be a huge help from behind the scenes. Having specific tasks and communicating well with others is where I can always take my job to the next level. Delivering outstanding customer service has been a large part of every job position I’ve ever held. If I’m being honest, making things work well behind the scenes has also been my favorite part of such work. Being able to support someone through any kind of journey in doing what they do means the world to me.
I strongly believe that my empathic nature and caring heart has come from the struggles I have endured myself. When I was just sixteen years old I had my first child, a daughter. While I knew it would be hard to raise a child at that age, I also knew I had the support of my family and friends. I am aware that not everyone going through tough times has the same kind of support I had. I will forever be grateful for that and always try to use my ability to overcome as a motivation in helping others do the same. I am dedicated to helping others and just striving to be a kind person. I am now married and we have four children. I try to instill kindness in them and raise them as the people I want to see in the world.
Two of my biggest passions are advocating for autism and mental health. I immerse myself in fields where these are big priorities. Before this I worked in a middle school as a Special Education Paraprofessional and before that I was a caregiver at an adult foster care home. Both of those jobs really allowed me to make a difference in the lives of those I was caring for. I believe my desire to make a difference in these two areas comes from my core belief in being kind. There is so much hate and negativity in the world. I would love to live in a world where there is just as much love and positivity. The one thing I can do to change that is to be as kind as I can be whenever possible.”
While being a paraprofessional I supported middle school students with special education services in their daily education. Those services included collecting adequate behavior data, communicating effectively with all teachers, maintaining student information and confidentiality as required by HIPAA and FERPA, and working independently and cooperatively with administrators and teachers. Along with being a caregiver I was also an administrative assistant. While holding that role I organized employee payroll and other clerical duties including data entry and answering phones, maintained accurate records of patient care, condition, progress, and concerns, and I obtained and kept confidential client medical information. I will be using my organizational skills and knowledge to help things run smoothly on the insurance side of the company. I share my coworkers passions and values and am very excited to be a part of such an inspiring team.
